Seriously?

I was trying to update my credit card info on tivo.com, and kept getting an error message. After multiple attempts to call their customer service department, and receiving the same "I'm sorry, all operators are busy" message, I attempted to use their online chat customer support. After explaining the issue, here was the rest of the conversation:

Rebekah Carr: I have been trying to call that number, and I can't get through
Rebekah Carr: what can I do?
Chad: I'd be glad to assist you with that. Give me just a minute or two to look into this issue for you.
Rebekah Carr: ok
Chad: What happens when you try to call that number?
Rebekah Carr: it says that all operators are busy
Chad: What phone service do you have?
Rebekah Carr: Verizon
Chad: I just called it and it worked fine.
Rebekah Carr: Why am I not able to update my credit card info online? Can that be fixed?
Chad: We just need to update the credit card by phone.

Nice try, "Chad"

I finally got through on the phone, and the issue was fixed, and explained to me in less than 3 minutes.

Software Upgrade Fail

I decided to upgrade the software on my Blackberry Tour because the newest upgrade included threaded texting. This software version was notoriously glitchy, but, I wanted the messaging feature, so I did it anyway. Now, my phone randomly rings when it's on vibrate only, the alarm sometimes doesn't go off, and tonight, when I ended my call with Brad, it started playing gospel music, and I could not get it to stop.

As of a few days ago, a new upgrade is available. I will be fixing it the first chance I get. :-)

I'm Back!

I feel alive again. I think that I lost part of myself over the past year, and it's back. It is a nice feeling. :-)

Coffee

A thought occurred to me yesterday. It's amazing how easy inexpensive living is, once you have to live inexpensively. I can't believe how much money I used to spend on coffee, and how much other people do.

I was loading my Cuisinart Grind and Brew coffee maker with my Folgers coffee, when I noticed that the plastic coffee container said that it could make about 240 6oz cups of coffee. With the help of a calculator, my simple math brain started working. That is 1440 oz. of Coffee. That is 72 20oz cups of coffee. Forgive me if my numbers are off, but:

At Starbucks, at $1.95 a pop for a Venti brewed coffee. 72 of those would cost $140.40.

A large coffee from McDonalds is about $1.60, 72 of those would cost $115.20

Even at Speedway, when they run the any size for $.99, you're still shelling out $71.28

I paid $5.99 for my 1440 oz!

That blew my mind. Does this mean I'm going to stop getting coffee from other places? No way! But, I'm pleased to see the amount of money I'm not spending by making coffee at home every morning! :-)

Uncle Roger

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that my Great Uncle Roger had a Facebook account, and added him last week. I was even more surprised last week when I saw that he had a pretty sweet farm on Farmville, so I instantly made him my neighbor. I was stunned, and not alone to find out that Uncle Roger passed away on Wednesday evening. He was a good man, and will surely be missed.

For some reason

I'm totally digging this watch. I want one. :-)

Or this one.

I love my OSU Fossil watch, but I have had it for three years now. I think it's nearing time for a change.

Potential reasons I have had a cold for nearly a month:

1. Most of the warehouse/inventory people at work have been passing a super fun cold/sinus infection/ bronchitis-ish combination around for at least two months now. Nobody washes their hands nearly enough. We are not gross, but with the illness being passed around, there is most definitely not enough hand washing going on.

2. Working outside in the cold and rain, and crazy weather mood swings. That is never helpful.

3. Brad also had a cold. We spend time together, and have probably passed it back and forth to each other, which is actually known to happen by something as small as coughing near each other, or even, *gasp* holding hands! Woah!

4. Bouncing back and forth between working overnights, and my normal working days schedule. That can be rough on anyone, sick or well. That in combination with my recent change in my work schedule. All of these things can majorly screw with a body's ability to fight off illnesses that it does when it is well rested.

5. Possibility that my initial illness was caused by a virus and not bacteria, in which case my first antibiotic would not have worked anyway.

6. There is some stress in my life. I have school related stress with my online classes. I have financial stress because I'm just not quite where I need to be and had planned to be by this time in my life. I do have stress. Stress is not good for the body's coping with illness.

I think there's a pretty good chance that it was not caused or sustained by "Manic Depression" which is also known to the medical community as Bipolar Disorder. I am not a Doctor, but I think that any doctor would agree that I am not bipolar. Sometimes I am a little quirky, and sometimes I can be moody. I have highs, and I do get sad sometimes. This stuff is actually pretty normal for most humans though. While I do not live the most healthy life possible, I don't think that I cope with these things in any really unhealthy ways.

To anyone who may be "concerned" that my lifestyle had changed over the past year(s), thank you for your concern, but it is not really needed. People change and evolve over time. Going to nursing school is somewhat of a life changing experience. It takes time, hard work, and requires a significant amount of cutting back in other areas of life to be a success (unless you are one of those crazy natural scholars that have to work at nothing, in which case I hate you)(just kidding). It often requires one to stop working as much, which could cause them to not be able to afford things like shopping trips and vacations. I am in a place in my life where I have made some HUGE sacrifices to make some very awesome accomplishments and and achievements toward my soon to be future career. Sometimes it is not easy, but I am very proud of what I have done!

Does anyone remember when I was still in the RN program? Probably not, because nobody ever saw me then. This was because I lived in Sheffield Lake. I worked, I slept, I went to school. I never went out and socialized with people. I literally went months without even seeing my best friend. Nobody noticed, because I was in a different place. I was ok with that.

I play my xbox and watch movies by myself because not only are they both insanely cheap activities, but it's nice to have "me time" after leaving the forced social world of a retail work environment. Plus, I like them. Also, Xbox live allows me to be connected to, and converse with some pretty fun people that I can't always see live. :-)

I have a very strong core group of friends. While I am not the socialite I was in my younger days, the caliber of the people I associate with and spend my time with is far superior to any group of people I would have ever imagined in my life years ago. I am very lucky to have them in my life, and love meeting the people I meet through them!

Feel free to ask me to do things, but please do not be offended if I turn you down because I have a board test to study for, or I am low on cash, or I really just want to relax and not "go out." Do not feel bad for me if you see me out in public by myself, because it gives me somewhat of a sense of liberation and independence that I feel I need to have in my life.

Concern for my mental status = unnecessary. Thank you. :-)

Unofficially Official

As of 11:27pm tonight, I officially, unofficially completed all of the academic requirements for the Lorain County Community College LPN Program. All I have to do is drop my paperwork off tomorrow at the school from my clinicals, and wait for the pinning ceremony!

I was somewhat of a slacker when it came to completing the online quiz portion of my final class. I kinda giggled when I accidentally ran my activity report on the online class website.

I can't wait till the pinning ceremony! I'm going to go shopping for a new outfit tomorrow! :-)

Job

It's officially time to apply for a job. I am actually searching for an out of the box kind of thing, but I have a feeling I'm going to land some kind of depressing, overly stressful, routine job that I will end up hating. I don't know why I'm feeling so negative about it, but I am.

I don't even know where to look, but I'm looking.

Sigh of Relief

I finished my Pediatrics class this morning. Our final was at 9am, our final grades were posted by 11:58am. Color me impressed! I did not study nearly enough for this class, and had dropped down to a C going into the final. Knowing I did not put nearly enough effort into the class, I was definitely nervous waiting for the final grade.

I did well enough on today's exam to finish the class with a B! YAY!

As soon as I saw the final grade, I finished making my phone calls to set up my final clinical experience. I will be starting at Bradley Bay at 6:45am tomorrow! I only have to do 5 days of this one, and my Preceptor gave me 8 options of days to work with her just within the next 2 weeks. I'll be doing Tomorrow and Sunday for sure, and maybe Thursday.

Snuggie?

"Blanket should consider changing his nickname to Snuggie since blankets are so out!"

I really wonder if the kids are all messed up. People with weird names can turn out normal. I just hope they've had some pretty awesome nannies up to this point.

I never was a huge fan, but I do love me some Thriller. In honor of the late king of pop, I am naming all of my Sims on the Sims 3 Michael. (for now)

Bright Eyes?

The original song always makes me think of some certain people. I LOLed when I saw this!

D-Day

It is probably a really bad nickname (considering the recent anniversary of the real D-Day) for this, but Diet Day starts today. Brad and I have both decided to drop some lbs. Today marks the start date of the process. This winter weight has to go, and I need to look hot for my work trip to Vegas on Aug. 10-12, and my Pinning ceremony on August 15.

Oh yeah, Jeff and I also wore Snuggies to Cedar Point for Coastermania ERT. This is an event which usually delivers some pretty strange people to the park. Our goal was to out-nerd the nerds. We were successful, and warm...and pretty popular! :-)

Graduation is not important...

One of the girls at work last night was proudly finishing a nice little display board featuring the store graduates from the class of 2009. She did a very nice job, but I informed her that she left one off, which was me. As she looked confused, and wasn't sure how to react, the girl standing next to her said "College graduation doesn't count."

I had to refrain from saying, "Bitch, please! you put yourself through 120 credits of college without mommy and daddy paying for it and then tell me it doesn't count."

I have worked my ass off for what I have accomplished, and I am nothing but greatful to my friends and family for the support they have given me. Don't tell me it doesn't count!

I'm just sayin'
